Which is just another way of saying, everything is unfortunately progressing pretty much as expected.
For me it was this..............
- The transition to a pro style offense is the herculean task for Goff that I feared it would be. If he survives it mentally, he may not survive it physically. The indicators are the odds of him meeting or exceeding expectations as a LA Ram are getting longer, not shorter.
- Keenum did what he does, which is gets the ball out of his hand quickly in a short, low risk passing attack. Works okay for short spells against a defense like Denver's as long as you stay out of the inevitable obvious passing situations that you'll get over the course of a full game and you're helping out your "franchise LT" by chipping on his side with the RB. Keenum was able to largely avoid those situations but Goff and Mannion weren't as fortunate.
- The starting defense would appear better than they have against an offense almost as bad as the Rams whose starting QB was drafted a few rounds AFTER the Rams drafted Mannion two years ago. We should view this performance in the proper context.
- The Rams WR's are part of the problem, and part of that problem is investing in Tavon Austin like Denver has in Demaryius Thomas. That problem was on clear display last night. Another part of the problem is Goff is going to get his receivers killed if he doesn't start making better decisions and putting balls in better spots for them.
- We should be prepared for a lot more 7-9 kind of ....er...stuff...this season.
