CROMWELL21
Six years for 56.14 million is now listed as his entire contract.
Austin is an entertaining player .... put the ball in his hands and there is the possibility that he can score from anywhere on the field.
Punt Return .... rushing ... receiving ... lots of excitement ... he will make the fans in Los Angeles have lots of fun ...
as a #2 WR is he worth it? no
as a KR is he worth it? no
as a #2 RB is he worth it? no
but all in one package ...I say yes ... the Rams may have gotten a good bargain
He will be the second in NFL history to do so (after Eric Metcalf).
The hope is with better offensive coaching and improved QB play he can be more productive. Fisher has already stated the intent to get the ball in his hands significantly more.
He has been extremely inconsistent, I completely understand some doubting him, but there have been tantalizing flashes. In his 2013 rookie season, he became the first player (not rookie, but period) with four 50+ yard TDs in a two game stretch in a half century since Gale Sayers and Jim Brown. Last year, he was one of the first WRs ever to have 400 yards and/or 4 TDs rushing (possibly only to do both).
Austin and Gurley can be very complementary threats (on jet sweeps, reverses, fakes, etc.).
