Kirwin is essentially saying that although the kid is setting his bridges on fire, pretty soon he'll exhaust all his options and sign like Bradford did.
And exactly what did all this accomplish? It gave the team and Bosa bad tastes in their mouths for one another, and it makes other teams wary.
Bosa is WAY behind the other guys (or OTAs and training camp and preseason games are worth exactly bubkus).
This is just plain dumb. Bosa has very little leverage in this deal unless he wants to go play in Canada for about 10% of the money. Or maybe he has a big job at an investment bank in New York waiting for him. I doubt it.
Why would anybody expect him to quickly sign a contract that nobody in his position has ever been asked to, just because they are cheap and incompetent.
If he signs late, he still gets his money. Maybe that hurts him a little (sure he can get caught up in 4-5 years).
It hurts the team and fans the most. They shot themselves in the foot for no reason. If they are so cheap they can't afford to pay the full contract (thus the stubbornness on the offset language), maybe they should sell the team to real owners who can actually afford the costs associated with running an NFL team. IMO SD looks a lot worse over this.
