I didn't say that every receiver had to run a 4.4 40... in fact I specifically said that he lacked the quickness that you normally would normally like to see in receivers like him (read who don't run the 4.4 40)
And yes he reminds of Edleman, Cherbet, Welker, & Amendola all worker bee kinds of players
He proved his talent in a preason game against 3rd and 4th string players. I'm intrigued and want to see more... but that's about it right now
I will say it again... I think some are overreacting and your post is an example... but its one mans opinion.

Every WR doesn't need to run a sub 4.4 40 to make it in the NFL. Quickness, smarts and good hands is enough. Spruce reminds me of a few guys who did well. Wayne Chrebet, who played at my college, Hofstra, was never a speedster. He could catch those quick slants and get you a first down. Amendola, who made Sam look great his rookie year is very comparable. Edelman of the Pats. Steadman Bailey was faster but a reliable guy to make a big catch on 3rd or 4th down. Bruce was way faster early in his career but later became more of a possession guy who ran perfect routes and just caught the ball. I'm sure there's tons more. Spruce has enough talent. He proved his ability in a PS game. John Gruden wants to have his baby. And Gruden wears a ring.
