Another head scratcher on how he is so highly rated, by many Rams fans.
While I disagree that he will be out of the game altogether, I see him as a middle of pack 2nd stringer at best. Others seem to hold him in much higher regard and I don't understand the basis as I don't see physical potential, nor do I see results.
Just to be fair, 81...
Keenum is a winning QB as a Ram. Haven't been many of those since Bulger.
Keenum has lots of heart.
Players make plays for Keenum. Hard to put your finger on it, exactly. But they clearly do.
He doesn't beat himself with turnovers.
Did I mention that he is a winning Ram QB? Lol.
I agree with you on Keenum and I think that his harshest critics just look at the wrong things.
First off he is the best #2 qb the Rams have had since Jamie Martin, and Martin played with the GSOT personnel so arguably Keenum is better since he plays with far less.
Keenum does have some appreciable physical skills. He has a pretty quick release and some mobility. He's accurate overall and actually when he throws long with timing and anticipation he can hit them.
But those are not his real strengths. Rams players call him a gamer (that's a direct quote). The thing is, he is smart and ambitious and driven enough to put in the time to maximize his play. He's a dedicated film junkie off the field and on the field has good game smarts. The result is that he often makes plays others might not see are there as quickly as he does (like the backward lateral toss across the field to Cunningham last year when CK had run out of the pocket to the right with nothing there, saw BC, and saved the play).
