Congrats on your grandson James! Sounds like a heck of an athlete!!
Hopefully its as simple as scar tissue soreness James. Just for reference here...My middle daughter is a college bball player and my son will be playing D2 football it appears, he spent most of this summer at invite camps before his senior year and did well. He has had injury issues as a Freshman and Sophomore so we are well versed in what your dealing with...not shoulders...
When I played I had right shoulder injury issues and still do to this day if I so much as lift too much or sleep wrong!!
I have always tried to keep my kids away from braces when possible so that they and then ultimately the joint dont end up relying on it and not being strong on there own. They do serve a purpose. So braces do happen but as quickly as possible I get them off of them.
I have heard great things about spider tech tape type braces, they offer peace of mind and are lightweight and some kids swear by them. There are certain stabilizer braces. If I was you I might call a Orthopedic office near you and just ask them what they suggest, nobody deals with that more then they do ill bet!
