The Vikings played the Seahawks very, very tough last season and should have split with them.
They lost by one point to the Hawks in a Championship game. That should not be downplayed.
They played the Broncos tough and should have won the game. They lost by a fg.
They beat the chargers, lost by a fg to the Cardinals.
I think you are seriously discrediting that team.
They got the Seahawks, the 2nd place finisher in the NFC West last year, at home twice last season. Lost the first time 38-7 and the second time in the playoffs 10-9. If they don't botch a FG, sure they should have split, but we are talking about 2 games at home, outscored 48-16 overall.
Ultimately, they went 5-1 in their own division last year, They went 1-4 against the NFC West, with their only win being an OT win against the Rams, again on their home field.
The Rams went 3-3 inside their division against teams
they play twice a year EVERY year.
For Minny to go 1-4 against teams they don't have any familiarity with, losing two games by a total of 4 points is not that unusual.
I wouldn't bring up the Rams, because not only did they beat them last season but the season before they beat them by 4 TD's.
So I don't think the Vikings benefited form anything other than good coaching and competitive play on the field.
You play who you play.
5-10
7-9
11-5
Looks like a team trending up to me.
