Well, there are opinions that differ from the above. Such as the move to St. Louis was to garner more dough for a sick lady's estate held in trust for her children and grand children. That it did quite successfully. The business about Orange County society is -IMO-merely a mean spirited attack on someone who took "our team" away.
As far as the team leaving, in some ways I was not miserable and more relieved. They had stunk for so long I was almost happy to have another town share in my misery-which was the misery of losing.
