Well, from a non-native perspective, this STL guy visited with his wife in May for a Cards-Dodgers series and we stayed in West Hollywood, at a great small boutique hotel called Le Parc Suites, which was awesome. Very nice, upscale and quiet residential area. Set on a residential street with underground parking. The year before, we went with our college aged kids, and needed two rooms, so I didn't want to spend as much, and we stayed at a really cool hotel called called The Moment, right on Sunset Boulevard, which was also great. A little "trendier" and in a busier part of Hollywood itself. I'd say the average age of the guests was maybe 30-35. Nearby there is just a plethora of great restaurants, live music venues, comedy clubs, tourist attractions and not too far from LAX. The rooms were a little smaller, but still more than adequate for a long weekend. It was a converted 60s motel and very fresh and modern. My main advice would be to stay relatively close to where you will do things. Traffic can be a little busy at times on the freeways. And, you didn't ask, but we had the best meal of our lives at Paley, check it out!
