While Kendricks is the starter- rightfully- if Higbee shows well he can earn plenty of work. The Rams run a lot of two TE sets. They did with Cook and Kendricks the past three years. Until Higbee shows he can run block his role will be more limited. They cannot afford another run blocking liability at TE (like Cook was).
Agreed, 93.
It's not an either/or situation at TE. Plenty of room for both on this team.
As an aside...
The Rams had the worst passing O in the league last year.
So what did they do?
Drafted Goff to be their QB at #1 overall after a blockbuster trade up.
Snagged TE Higbee as their new pass catching threat to replace the very disappointing Cook.
Stole Pharoh Cooper in the 4th to upgrade their WR corps.
Made Rob Boras their official OC after his promising W/L record as an interim under difficult conditions.
Hired Groh to improve WR routes, scheming, and techniques.
If you ask me, that's a helluva lot of attention devoted to areas of big need on O. Throw in Gurley and an ascending OL, and I think we just might be in business on O in '16.
