I don't see how you can sell 'potential' to an owner and draft guys who need a year or 2, or 3 to hit their stride / grow up / learn the game. By the time your plan comes together and the player is productive it's time for contract #2 and big money. it's possible that Robinson will round into form and possibly become the player they always dreamed of - just as his rookie contract is expiring. Wouldn't that be a hoot? So we can overpay based on 1 year of good production or let him walk and, in effect, become the minor league team for another ball club.
Well, technically, ALL rookies are projects, promo.
Even 1st overall rookies. That's just the way it is.
I have a hard time criticizing the overall S&F draft results, TBH.
