As the season nears my optimism grows...

July 12, 2016 04:20PM
that's normal for me, and has occurred every season since I've been a fan..... well over 50 years. So it's no prediction of 'outcome' Goodluck Smiley but there are degrees to my optimism.

During this lull I've been watching a few of last year's games as well as reviewing youtube hi-lights of our rook's. I have seen some great things... and that is NOT always the case, even with rose colored glasses permanently adhered to my face.

Goff is growing on me more and more and my opinion of Goff began at a high level. His instincts are excellent, IMHO. Going in - - the last time I was this confident with a Ram QB was with Green, and Warner as well (before he took over at Qcool smiley. Those three guys had something I have not seen in any Ram QB since... although I thought Bulger was above average and in some ways well above average.

Even with the loss of Jenkins, which didn't make me happy... I see no reason our Defense can't come together and become elite... and I mean 'elite', not just 'quite good'. With a reinvigorated offense I think it will make all the difference... hell, with just a semi-inspired offense I think our D could take that step.

Reading LMU's list of 7 potential Pro Bowlers I have no big argument against any of them... chock me up as agreeing.

In truth, I have two worries....(skipping over the why's of why I think our OL is very much improved this year and is not one of my big worries).... Our WR's. That's #1. #2 is Fisher. I'm not of the opinion that either #1 or #2 can NOT come through but in both cases I believe it's going to take the rest of the team pushing them to snap them out of the doldrums.

I'm thinking playoffs, I admit it. When I look at the wild card teams, and a few of the division winners, I simply do not see that much difference between them and the Rams. In a couple of cases I'm convinced the Rams are their better.

I don't worry about 'setting myself up for disappointment'... not making the playoffs is, and always will be, disappointing for me... despite my level of optimism. IOW... expecting them to make the playoffs or not my disappointment is the same. Go Rams. - JamesJM
